Actually, yes you are right. "Detect Lies" or variations thereof is of
course quite possible. Indeed, used as far back as Pavis supplement if not
beforehand there's the Lhankor Mhy Truth spell iirc.

I was specifically referring to mind-reading capacity which to my
understanding is verboten.

So in answer to your original question Erica there's a little bit of
leeway here. We have to work out the specific abilities of Rotterex Faust.
I imagine, having summoned a Rubble Runner in the past, that he must have
abilities in that direction. But we can certainly assume that he has
"Detect Truth" as well.

One will lie, the other will tell the truth. You just don't know which is
which... and the wrong choice could be very fatal. :)
