Question to the GM:
Does the original version of the Abiding Book also relates the exploits and
success of Aalmon and the Fourth?

Although Aalmon was cynically unsurprised by the attempt to feed him and
his little Illuminated brother to the Mouth, the Gopher People also
proved true to their promise. Aalmon and The Fourth did indeed defeat
the creature, and the spiritual paths of the shaman beneath the earth, a
world hitherto largely unknown to Aalmon, was revealed in its splendour.
Like a hawk charging through the tunnels, so fast that speech was left
behind as it was spoken, Aalmon and The Fourth were literally hurtled
along the secret paths beneath the Wastelands of Prax. In what seems to
an extraordinarily brief period of time, they suddenly came to a close.

"This is the extent of our path", spoke the shaman. "Exit this hole and
travel south and east and you will reach the above-the-ground fort that
you call Lei Tabor. This is a harsh place, and I do not know why you
have chosen this place. But it is not my place to ask. I wish to part on
good terms with you both. You are of great spirit, even greater than I,
and of a martial skill that not even the Mouth could prevent. Truly one
could say that you are like the Gods themselves."

Aalmon and The Fourth exited the hole; the shaman had been good enough
to bring the latter's pram of trinkets along as well (The Fourth fitted
snuggly inside the contraption). With Yelm beating down upon the land,
their eyes squinting (and The Fourth's doubly so), the Courier sighed,
realising that he would to find another horse.

In the distance a walled town could be seen, perhaps three leagues.
Beyond that a break in a moutain range that stretched far to the north
and south, as far as the eye could see. Amongthe breakwere littered a
large number of unusually shaped forts, quite unlike the shape of the
town which bore a surprisingly resemblance to those buildings of the
region of Sartar, which Aalmon was somewhat familiar with. The Fourth
however did recognise the design of the forts; "Kraloreli", he said,
despondantly. "Dragon worshippers, enlightenment through subservience
and despotism. Not a very good place for us!", he laughed with a little
private joke before falling into a sullen mood again. The Sun did not
rise the trollkin's spirits.

The pair tramped for two hours under the hot sun and broken lands, and
stopped for a rest under a pitiful excuse for a tree among the spikey
shrubbery that was abound. The sudden bleating of a goat surprised both
of them, but it proved to be a diversion just to attract their
attention. Several somewhat individuals, including humans and some ducks
surrounded the party, dressed in light armour and carrying a variety of
weapons, some of which carried the marks of recent use to match bound
wounds. There seemed to be a degree of uniformity about their dress.
Their coutenance could not be considered

There was a sound of a horse and from around a small mesa, came a man on
horseback with a troll and trollkin alongside him. He was rather gaudily
dressed and wore several medallions on his armoured chest, and carried a
sword by his side. The Fourth found it hard to discern his nationality
as well, having features of both the Kraloreli, and that of a Praxian
nomad, both of which the trollkin was familiar with.

The mounted man called out in a hoarse, croaking, voice. "I am General
Ho Ki, of the Provisional People's Democratic Republic of Lei Tabor, and
these are our lands. We are well-aided by our loyal allies of the Via
Duck Mercenaries and we shall protect what we have wrested from the
wicked, authoritarian monarchy that resides in the glorious city of Lei
Tabor, which one day we shall take, as it rightly ours."

"These are our lands, and we would appreciate that you follow our laws.
There is also a toll to enter - for maintenance of law and order, and
roads, and the provision of the military. A price of ummm... five silver
pieces per head..."
