Listenning careful to the translations, Azhur approved but with a worried face:
- "Indeed very interesting... he muttered. I wonder if Lei Tse was aware about these developments."
He then turned at Serendipitous Seeker, trying his best to bestow the necessary local respect to dragonewts and asked him:
- "Does the general knows about the projects of the barbarians and exiles in Lei Tabor? Does he cares to stop them or not? I have no wish to enter Kralorela and to spend one year waiting for some hypothetic approval while the West may fall under the tyranny of the Kingdom of War... We are just here for Saint Talor's weapons and previously had nothing to do with Kralorela..."
Thinking about the sunstorm and some past advices from the Luthua, Azhur coundn't help having a concerned glance at Rikku...

Objet : [HQ Ignorance] Scene 111: Interesting Times
As Azhur nervously [Fear Dragons 17] communicates with the Seeker about
the possibility of taking control of the Iron Fort, a guard enters the
courtyard, begs his pardon of the Dragonewt and mentions that the great
General Han Sui, Who Guards Against The West, humbly requests an
audience. The ever-curious Seeker rose, his back feeling oddly stiff as
bones realigned themselves, and called for his servants to accompany
him.
Taking the central bridge over to the main keep the party remained
strongly guarded. Azhur and Kalen, perhaps both expecting an internal
structure, were surprised to discover the central keep was actually an
open area protected by a wall. Within that open area however was a great
paved central courtyard, and within that courtyard was rectangular,
unwalled hall.
Following the Dragonewt inside the hall, numerous soldiers shepherd the
party to their allocated places. Upon a rather impressive throne facing
the east sat an austere figure in full military uniform. Speaking in the
language of Kralorela, only those with the magic of tongues could
understand his words, grim as they were.
"Dragonman, you are most welcome to our historic fortification in these
most interesting times. We trust that you are on your way to the
rightful home of the Dragon and that your transformation brings you
enlightenment.
I have been informed of your company. It is the rules of the Emperor
that any foreigners who seek entrance to Karlorela must spend a year in
the island of Wanzow. That is the Emperor's decree."
The General audiably drew in his breath sharply.
"There is no Emperor"
The General paused to let his words take effect. Everything in Kralorela
was based on the exitence of the Godunya Dragon Emperors. It was the
single point where the entire fabric of society was built upon. For a
human of the region, it would have been the equivalent of telling them
that gravity no longer functioned.
The Seeker tilted his head to the right, indicating further curiousity.
The General took this as a cue to continue.
"The sages had taken up the ridiculous philosophy of Yao Fune, that by
retreating from the world and giving up war then war would no longer
come to them and they could live in a world of blissful ignorance. Well,
they received their wish. The Bliss of Ignorance himself, Can Shu,
released the Amethyst Dragon of Great Chaos and suppressed the spirit of
the Sunstorm within it. Then he marched into Kralorela."
"The Exarch of Seven Dragon and Wisdom did not fight. Even though the
northern lands fell, he did nothing. 'This is the philosophy of Yao
Fune', he said, mocking the sages"
"So then the sages approached the Godunya, pleading for him to take
action. He smiled at them and said nothing."
"Pirates from Melib landed in the southern shores, primitives poured
down from the mountains. And still the Exarch stayed in his tent and
still the Dragon Emperor took no action."
"Until a week ago, when one of the sages visited the Emperor and found
nothing but his robes. He had vanished. Perhaps transformed into a
Dragon, perhaps now on another plane of existence, which cannot be
contacted. In any case he has vanished. And our protocol says the sages
must find the next incarnation."
"And that was when the Exarch declared himself Emperor."
"We are being invaded from the north by Can Shu. We are being invaded by
the south from the Melib. The primitives pour from their mountains. And
now there is civil war, between those who support the sages in a quest
for a new Emperor and those who support the Exarch's claims."
The General looked at the Fellowship and around him.
"These are interesting times."
