Aalmon gives him a quizzical look

"I am already not letting them down and have been doing so for quite a
while now, although I think some people have expectations that I am not
going to meet. I am a messenger, not a general to order a rebellion, nor
a priest nor an administrator.

If the leader you need is one who carries gets the message to where it
needs to be, whatever that takes, then I cannot help but be your leader.
That is the path set out for me and I have abandoned any thoughts of
leaving that path. If I can rejoin my companions then it will be better
done, if the warring armies get in the way of that then I will just have
to stop them warring to get through.

The Fourth has laid a burden on me, tell him that in return I lay one on
him. The rebellion needs a general and the burden he has given me
forbids me to do so or we would all pay a terrible price. He might want
to refuse but there is prophesy and fate to answer to and I think him
too wise to defy them.

You are doing fine work running keeping the faith and keeping those who
keep the faith. What could be gained if I replaced you, I who knows
nothing that you know? No, you should continue with these tasks.

I will continue to try to conquer war in my own way. If I have your
support then I will be grateful for it and it may make all the
difference. I can lead by example, I can seek out the paths that must be
followed. These are the things that I can do and if you can accept that
leadership then I am indeed your leader. Then we shall see what response
the messengers have and then I will know how to act next."

He smiles wryly

"I might know where my path ultimately leads me but I have no more clue
what tomorrow will bring than anyone does."
