OOC: Goodness, this is looking like quite a battle!
The Far-Rider leapt down into the fray, and was immeaditely set upon by
the howling cultists and the chitteirng of the feet of the mouthers upon
the ground. Raising the Greatsword, it felt only remotely familiar in
his hands [1], but he swung it firmly nonetheless, as one would swing a
battleaxe [2]. In the first rank three cultists attacked with their
daggers as six of the mouths spat their foul glue at the courier
The Greatsword proved its worth [3] against the horde of cultists and
mouths, cutting through the first two cultists with superlative ease,
spilling their entrails upon the cavern floor, but getting caught in the
ribcage of the third, just as a mouth spat its glue at Aalmon. The
courier whipped out his cloak and caught the gob, freeing his sword with
the other hand and then thrusting the blade into the small mouth,
skewering it and the one behind, before tripping on his now dropped
cloak; fortunately the the third mouth went overhead and Aalmon was able
to steady himself before dispatching it, and two more of the swarm.
Aalmon grimly looked at his target; it would be same again, this time
through another mass of a half-dozen cultists before he could reach the
mouth...
Meanwhile The Fourth climbed from the crevice, with his friendly spirits
surrounding him. He called loudly to the assembled throng below and
called them craven, slaves to Chaos. They responded to his call and
suddenly many mouths were clambering up the slope towards him. Reaching
into his pouch, The Fourth threw sacred rocks of the Blue Plateau at the
creatures, augmented by the spirit Killstick against the helpless mouths
who lacked a response to missile weapons [4]. Three times the trollkin
sorely wounded the mouths as blue flame burnt through their chitinous
armour, but the fourth caught the fourth, requiring him to change to his
swordstaff and the beasts spat their glue upon him. One he hacked with
ease, but the second spat upon him covering him with a great stickiness
that slowed his movements greatly. Through the substance he could see on
the cavern flow cultists readying magicks to send towards him...
1] -5 for unfamiliar weapon, 2W down to 17
2] Ability 17+40 = 17W2 + Tactics = 20W2 Ability, versus the three
dagger-wielding cultists at 11 and six mouths at 2W.
(Now you know; the Greatsword is +40; yes it is an artifact)
3] The gruesome statistical details are as follows;
Roll 13 from 20W2 verus 2 from 11. Success, bump to critical versus
success, bump down to failure = dead
Roll 9 from 17W2 verus 16 from 11. Success, bump to critical versus
failure, bump down to fumble = dead
Roll 5 from 14W2 versus 1 from 11. success, bump to critical versus
critical, bump down to success = incapacitated
Roll 14 from 11W2 versus 9 from 2W. Failure, bump to success versus
failure, bump down to success, spend 1 HP, bump down to failure =
incapacitated
Roll 15 from 8W2 versus 20 from 2W. Failure, bump to success versus
fumble, bump to sucess, bump down to failure = dead

success versus failure, bump to success, spend 1 HP, bump down to
failure = dead
Roll 13 from 2W2 versus 9 from 2W. Failure, bump to success, versus

success, bump down to failure = dead.
Aalmon has spent 2 Hero Points in that battle.
4] Ability 10W, plus Blue Moon Rocks +3, plus Killstick's Hurt Chaos
augment +6 = 19W. Their ability is Climb 2W; any victory for the mouths
means they've reached The Fourth.

failure, bumped to success = wounded.
Roll 14 from 16W versus 3 from 2W. Success, bumped to critical versus
