Scene 95: At the Border of Teshnos
It doesn't take long for the more knowledgeable of the rump Fellowship
to work out where the boat has landed. With sand dunes to the north and
west and jungle to the east, the only place that this could be would be
border of Teshnos. "Fascinating", Rikku remarks with just a hint that he
is not being entirely sarcastic. "So Teshnos remains in this new age?
Must be all the special herbs they consume with alarming regularity.
Maybe their claims of timeless reincarnation had something going for it
after all. And tell me, in yonder jungle, will we find Yellow Elves,
whose only human friends are as primitive as they are? Will they send
their spirits of disease towards us?" Muttering more to himself, Rikku
wander over to where Azhur and Eurynome investigate the damage to the
boat.
Ignoring Rikku's rhetorical questions, Imsa turns to Kalen and Rotterex.
The city of Lei Tabor, which you seek, can be found in two directions.
One, to the north through the dry Wastelands. As the goose flies, it is
closer than any other means, perhaps one hundred and thirty leagues. The
other method", she maps in the sand, "requires that we travel all the
way around Teshnos and Fethlon and into the hidden Kingdom of Kralorela
- and then somehow convince the authorities that you can travel through
the sacred kingdom to the iron forts and beyond."
"Interestingly, they are more likely to accept you, a Mostal, than other
humans. Least of all the Godstealer."
For his part, the Dragonewt basked in the sun and lazily hissed that the
desert wasn't such a bad place. If such a thing could be imagined, the
'newt grimaced for a moment. It seemed somewhat somewhat shrunken from
when the Fellowship had first met the Seeker. "Sss... shrinking pains...
My body.. itss sshrinkss .. and thisss tailss itsss growsss". Jareena
casts the reptile a sympathetic eye.
With less than an expert eye cast over the sailing boat, Azhur shakes
his head and with a sense of some disappointment. "I lack the expertise
to make such repairs."
