While the group was spending precious time wondering how to answer, Azhur looked at the people he had sworn to protect. His mind went to the cherished lands of his youth endangered by the Kingdom of War and to the representative role of king that he took in New Seshnela. His last though was for his beloved wife: Lady Marianne. “Destiny can’t be so cruel to make us fail now…” his lost faith in God was like a dead child in his heart, cold and inert, but his Sense of Duty was its burning pyre, consuming useless memories into heat and light.

Azhur asked Othor to bring him both the Abiding Book and the First Truth of Good King Siglat. While his Squire was looking for the precious volumes, Azhur addressed to Kalen.
- “Please Kalen, translate my words with all your convincing abilities, what we we need now is help not martyrdom at the hand of wild marauders .”

When Othor came back, Azhur took the sacred book of the New Hrestoli Church and looked for the pages were advices for the preachers were given. For a minute, he read, trying to cover himself and his mostali translator with the common “Bless my Speech” prayer.

Then he announced to the barbarians:
- “A few people in their life meet the chance to achieve a great responsibility toward the Universe.  A small minority will be evil or ruthless enough to discard it, selling their Essence for a puny material comfort, while a vast majority will run away, too  afraid by the requested sacrifices. Only a very small number of persons will find enough strength in their heart to pass from mortal life to legend. No one can live long in mediocrity but one may live forever in the songs and praises of his children for the exploits he made. You, courageous dwellers of the Wastes of Old Genert’s Garden, know perfectly what I mean. Sacred Duty isn’t an option for the faithful…”

The young western nobleman showed the Abiding Book to the shaman, hoping that the magical power behind would operate the miracle he desperately needed or at least that his second sight will give him an idea of the present forces.
- "This Sacred Book relates the struggle of the Cosmic Order above Oblivion from the very first Creation. If you know the secrets of the Mostali, you will probably be able to decipher the text and attest that I’m spelling the truth, but let me make a summary of the current situation… It is the tell of a lost group of questing champions, sent by free nations in a try to heal a suppurating wound destined to infect and kill our world… a period that all hail as the coming Hero Wars!”

Azhur opened the Abiding Book at the first page of the Chapter on the Talor’s Fellowship. His voice was living and inspired as he was reading the selected passages, because he had lived most of the described events; He began by the very first words of the long chapter:

- “…It was but a brave shepherd of the Kingdom of the Jonatings who first found to stone-hut near the region under The Ban. Although he could sense Power from within, he entered and defeated the Guardian Spirit within. Among the ruins he discovered a hitherto unknown fragment of Kyrmon's Scroll, which bore great information pertaining to the troubles of Fronela. It said that a heroquester would meet with Gbaji The Deceiver and form a Kingdom of War to herald his return and only the knowledge of the Nameless Man could prevent the greatest Chaos returning to Fronela…”

Azhur read passages after passages until the last page where the Fellowship’s camp was said surrounded by three score barbarians with longspears, riding great camels, and with hostile intend… He raised his head. His blessing was over since a long time now, but he was pushed by a heavy feeling of urgency… It was too long since he had news from the Kingdom of War. He addressed to the shaman:
- “I can offer goods from my wrecked vessel, I can promise rewards after if you help, but now only you can decide the fate of our world. Whatever you will answer will be inscribed here when you will talk…”

There, Azhur showed the space for the words to come in the Abiding Book and marvelously his own words were now appearing under everyone’s eyes:
- “Whatever you decide will fall on you and your children and, depending on what will be your answer, on the children of your children if there are any, because if Oblivion win this time, if you escape your duties, if you let the Devil appears once again, no children will sing in the future and there will be no exploit of yours to be sang. Today is your “I fight, we won” day or today is the Last Day…”

The strange old man gives Kalen a disconcerting smile.

"One day a Mostal didn't like me. Now I wear his bones, and the bones of
others. I now know what he knew. Including Dwarven secret tongue."
