[OOC]
Except that with a 10 vs 17, the marginal victory will still be for the bat, not Azhur's party.

So I need to spend 3 HP to achieve a positive outcome... too expensive to my taste with a reserve of only 5 HP, so I will spend 1 HP to achieve the demoralized state and try to play from that point.

[IC]
The view of the gigantic chaotic bat, tall as a mountain and scaring as a dragon, struck Azhur in frightful awe. All along his spine, he felt, once again, the shivering feeling of the icy blade of Death passing down on him and a skeptic warning invited him to ponder on the odds of his own soul’s survival...

As Blackmane, his trusted and loyal mount, refused to progress toward the battlefield, a pure terror appeared on the edge of his conscience, threatening to submerge him. His fellows riders also were stuck in fear in front of this cosmic outside manifestation, pure living deny of the Invisible God’s Creation.

As a cold and nervous sweat slowly rolled down from his temples, Azhur swallowed the bitter taste of self-insignificancy.
- “Who dares to conduct war with such blasphemy, he muttered?”

Old childhood memories came back to his mind: His father reading old legends of the faithful hrestoli knights against the eastern lying monks, desperate battles, deaths and oblivions as the Bright Empire’s mouth released more and more infamous hordes of unearthed horrors…

Reminding bits of the Black Knight Arkat's Saga and the feeling of duty toward precious and sacred life he felt at this time, Azhur shook his coming panic and ordered to his men:
- “King Broyan told me that he had already defeated this monstrosity once... truly a great hero! We are no match compared to him. Let’s hope he can reproduce this feat once again for the sake of his own people and us. For the moment, all we can do is to save our souls, perhaps our honor and most probably our fellows. Let's look for our friends!”

[OOC]
Demoralized Azhur stays on the battleground only to protect members of the Talor's Fellowship (particularly Kalen the mostali who seems to need some caring).

What are the consequences of a marginal victory ? How plays distance in the case of Azhur's party ? > The consequences of a marginal victory could be varied; the most probable is that your party
steels itself defensively against any attacks by the bat, gaining a bonus to defense. Or you can serve as a rallying point for fleeing soldiers, thus gaining a several extra people by fight by your side, thus giving a bonus to attack. _______________________________________________ Ignorance mailing list Ignorance at mimesisrpg.com http://mimesisrpg.com/mailman/listinfo/ignorance_mimesisrpg.com
