Scene 83: Rotterex versus The Crimson Bat

As the Glowline from the Crimson Bat washes over the Telmori their
hideous transformation, the Curse of Talor, takes place. You see the
muscles the Wolf Brothers strain against their skin, the cracking of
bones as they forcefully elongate, with the pained expressions on the
faces of those afflicted. As they change, a number of the more
disciplined Lunar fighters charge forthwith, hoping to inflict heavy
casulties before the immunity of the werewolves to normal weapons is
achieved. It is a bloody mess as half charge, half retreat, half bring
scimitar and magic to bear, whilst others are caught by the Telmori in
their massive werewolf form.

King Bryoan had the good sense to order a retreat as soon as the
glowline arrived and has backed up some distance; the wings of Dernu and
Gernu on the left and Elalanditi on the right remain strong. Close to
Bryons' forces are the missile fighters led by Gyffur, whilst from a
higher position Miryanth continues to send runners with supplies and
reconniassance to the assembled troops.

With Bryoan's command, Gyffur brings his forces to some level of order;
mostly javelin throwers, a few archers and a motly group of others,
including a dozen wind children, one of whom carries 'the bomb', a
little sapient rubble runner who calls himself Rotterex, baring a holy
weapon of the Mostal. Where else and in what circumstances could such a
situation arise?

A hundred loyal missile throwers wait until the Crimson Bat is within
range and, as a unit, they launch their attack at the demon. Jareena's
loyal followers Dorassa and Da assist with javelin and throwing axe. The
Mostal Kalen, who has had such a special relationship with the Rubble
Runner fires his pistols before following up with crossbow. The target
is large, slow, and easy to strike - but with a skin very difficult to
penetrate.

Javelin throwers 1W1 (resolved as five groups of 20), +1 for 'Big'
target,
1, 5, 14, 18, 4

Crimson Bat Fly 3 (for dodge)
18, 17, 11, 20, 7

Javelin throwers:
Major victory (+1 damage bonus, +3 weapon = +4 damage)
Minor victory (normal damage, +3 weapon = +3 damage)
Minor victory (normal damage, +3 weapon = +3 damage)
Major victory (+1 damage bonus, +3 weapon = +4 damage)
Minor victory (normal damage, +3 weapon = +3 damage)

i.e., none penetrates six levels of armour

Nota bene: This is different to the standard HQ rules, which would have
allowed a mass attack to defeat the CB's armour by sheer quantity!

Individual atttacks
Dorassa 4 (critical) vs Bat 14 (failure), Major victory +1 damage = +4
damage
Da 12 (success) vs Bat 9 (failure), Minor victory, +3 damage
Kalen 10 (success) vs Bat 4 (failure), Minor victory, +5 damage (the
pistols count as a 'heavy' weapon.

If Jareena wishes to spend 3 Hero Points, Dorassa will wound the Bat. If
Kalen spends 2 Hero Points then the pistol will wound the Bat.
