OK, my reading of the Icthya character sheet is that you have this
Practise at 17. With a roll of 13, that's a success. The friendly spirit
has a resistance of 14. With a roll of 2, that's a success as well,
which becomes a marginal defeat because it's roll is lower.
So as both Aalmon and Icthya try to coax their spirits out to confront
the horse riders, they send forth a volley of arrows (at 5W, roll 14, 18
at Icthya and 1 at Aalmon versus defenses of 18 for Icthya and 20 for
Aalmon - I swear I'm rolling these! - so that's two minor defeats for
Icthya and complete defeat for Aalmon - reduced slightly because of his
light armour).
An arrow flies through the air and strikes Aalmon in the neck! He falls
to his knees, blood streaming from the wound, but still he raises his
head to see what is happening (-50% to all abilities). Icthya is struck
twice, but they are both - praise Aldrya - scratches, a wound across the
arm and one across the back (-2 to all abilities).
The nomads change to spear and charge in. They call out their battle
cries in a tongue that neither the Elf, nor the Moon Man understand.
They sense victory, victory against two old friends.
Will their story end here?
