Scene 90: Journey to Torang

Aalmon and Icthya took to a tailwind as the gates of Palbar were opened
to them. In accord to their request, others also rode off in slightly
differing directions. Most journeyed to the north and west, for the path
there was clear and increasingly into Lunar lands. Two went south
although that would end in wilderness. None journeyed north or east, for
that would surely result in certain capture by the nomad raiders.

Word had gotten 'round in Palbar that the raiders were in fact a mighty
force, more than had ever been seen in the east of the Empire since the
lands were pacified. The persistent rumour was that Khan Dranz Goloi led
the force, for this HeroQuester had been trouble for many years and had
sworn on the Everlasting Burning Spear that he would confront the
Emperor in single combat. It appeared that this Fate would soon come
true.

As soon as it was evident that the riders were leaving the city, raider
skirmishers attempted to close with them. They were fast - very fast -
for their horses were swift and their riders born in the saddle.

OOC: Aalmon's Withstand Rigors of Travel 12W without releasing planet
spirit. Icthya's total bonus is 16 (shapeshift into an octopus does not
help!). Standard Nomad has 5W in Riding. Roll 4 for Aalmon, success bump
to critical and Icthya 20! (whoops.. Critical failure my Aldryma
friend.. Your horse in a gallop has landed in a pot-hold and broken it's
leg; it's injured. You go tumbling off it most inelegantly; your 14
Agile vs Fall 19; roll 19; a marginal failure - ouch! that's an
impairing wound. Either spend some Hero Points now to reduce the
injuries to something more superficial, or deal with the closing
raiders...
