Aalmon took the Darksword with some surprise, pondering the words of The
Fourth. It all seemed so easy, even too easy and for a brief moment the
wells of doubt rose in him, thinking that this must be some sort of
trick.
But as the night wore on it was clear that this was not a trick. He
dined with the trollkin, who were kind enough to feed simple vegetarian
fare in recognition of the presence of the Aldyrami (although not pixies
or elves or dryads) and engaged in happy, pleasant small talk. It was
unlike anything he had experienced for some time.
The following morning, The Fourth and his small village urged Aalmon and
Icthya to continue their journeys and bid them farewell. They helped
them to the place where they could make it down the Blue Moon Plateau
with ease.
And as Aalmon with great optimism, greeted Yelm that morning he felt
that all was good in the world. He had simply walked into a most
inhospitable land, with an atmosphere and poison soil, with a companion
considered food. And now he walks away with an artifact!
But what smile Aalmon had on his face was washed away and replaced with
confusion when he reached the base of the plateau. For there was a dozen
men and women, dressed in white robes, who applauded his arrival with a
cheer. "Aalmon! Aalmon!", they cried. As as the Far Rider wandered what
this was about, one of the older women came forth. "You have arrived as
prophecised. You have come down from the mountain of the moon and have
uncovered the secrets. Now is the time. Now the revolution begins. The
White Moon shall overcome the Red, and peace shall come to the land. How
do we begin, great leader?"
