Aalmon sat listening to Icthya's words and his mind raced away behind
his impassive eyes. The very thought of what magics the
truth-worshipping Yelmalio officers might have made the back of his neck
itch as if he was being spied upon. He recalled the words of his mentor,
that an enemies confidence in his greatest strength can be turned into a
weakness, if he could avoid straying from the truth they would believe
his words more than any normal men and perhaps he could use this to lead
them where he wanted.

He stood up, the camp stool falling over as he did so, then stepped back
nervously. He spoke in his formal New Pelorian, his voice slightly
wavering "I feared before that I knew this captive and now I have spoken
with her I know it is true. I know not what standing she has among her
own people to speak as their envoy but among the men of the West she
goes by the name of Icthya and it seems that some prophesy or fate walks
with her and her companions. I last saw her in the great kingdom of
Seshnela where within a few weeks of arriving they had somehow caused
the downfall of a great dynasty and the disgrace and exile of the
seemingly omnipotent religious authority in that land. I would not
oppose them for any promise of reward or any threat of punishment,
having seen what I have seen it would never be worth the price their
strange prophesy would exact." He turns to her captors as if to plead
"Fortunately they seem to want to leave and Icthya in particular has
little interest in your affairs so let them leave with haste and send
them on their way to the far North before their hearts can be swayed
against you."
