OOC:
Just to remark that the charge was planed after the pirates divided among those who stays with the boats and those who follow the dragonewt..
May I spent 1 HP to have Azhur with more impact with the charge ?

Objet : [HQ Ignorance] Scene 67 cont: As Above, As Below

With enemies above and below, the Fellowship was sorely pressed. Below
the waterline, Eurynome, Rikku and Swordsinger travelled through the old
Provincial capital of of Thanor. Making their way in the watery environs
to the God Learner library, centuries old Rikku discovered the original
Abiding Book, the most famous relic of the Malkion religion. Before they
could study it in detail, they were attacked by several grotesque
humanoids apparently led by a malevolent - and telepathic - squid, who
covered the area in an inky blackness.

The predominant colour of the humanoids was a greyish-green, though they
had white bellies. They were mostly shiny and slippery, but the ridges
of their backs were scaly. Their forms vaguely suggested the anthropoid,
while their heads were the heads of fish, with prodigious bulging eyes
that never closed. At the sides of their necks were palpitating gills,
and their long paws were webbed. They hop irregularly, sometimes on two
legs and sometimes on four*.

The first to act was Karala who directed her Shark Spirit towards the
octopoid beast. The action had its desired effect (remarkably, a
marginal success). The spirit occupied the attention of the Octopoid,
which fought it in the spirit world. The shark's ravenous appetite
surprised the more powerful Octopoid, who was forced to act
defensively.

Above the rest of the Fellowship witnessed the arrival of pirates from
Smelch. The peace-loving Ludoch gave immediate warning and then returned
to their task of protecting the craft. The Dragonewt immediately went on
the offensive, leaping to a rock which gave good vantage - clearly here
was a being ready for the next stage of reincarnation.

Anzhur's spirit was also awoken with the arrival of the pirates - the
spirit of the hunter of bandits, and none whom could see more just of
deserving the full force of his justice than these foul pirates. With
Othor and Aarolin set to attack, Anzhur recommended a deceptive lure
with the Dragonewt as chief actor (plan receives a marginal success).

To further frustrate the pirates, Icthya sends a spirit to calm the
water and wind, slowing the boat to a crawl and thus provide extra
opportunities for her archery. This however fails to eventuate (marginal
failure) as planned, and the pirates plow onwards. Icthya then sends a
pacifying spirit against the crew itself, dressing herself in foliage
and singing like a siren of old; one of the boats becomes sufficiently
entranced by this siren-song and crashes against the rocks, spilling the
crew into the water.

The second boat collects the members of the crashed longboat, and now
their anger was great. With single-minded determination they charged
towards the shore and a mighty crew went up when they saw the glint of
gold as the Dragonewt made its way up the hill's path towards the old
citadel. Finally the blood-thirsty and greedy pirates made it to shore.
As soon as they landed they were beset by Anzhur, Othor and Aarolin, who
fought bravely with the Red Banner of Valour blazing but were soon
forced into retreat through the overwhelming numbers (marginal defeat).
The pirates too had magic, although of the trivial sought which raised
their courage and sent them into a rage.

In the meantime Karala releases a fire spirit towards the pirate ship;
they respond with raising a water spirit against it. The battle that
ensures is bloody, with a fog of steam resulting as the two elemental
spirits clash. As this clears, some scorch marks can be seen against the
ship, but the fire spirit is not to be seen (major defeat, requires HP
to change).

Rikku searches for a path among the water as the fish-like humanoids
close in. His RuneQuest Sight, not used for centuries. returns to him. A
pathway is opened that acting as a Vortex that can drag the Octopoid
creature away; however its bulk is great and a status quo is reached,
with the Octopus managing to hold its ground (marginal failure, requires
HP to change).
