Icthya has been paying very little attention to the matter of the
book. At one point she overheard that it was writing their story even
now, but that seemed of little importance: if she were to return to
her forest they would likely be singing of her journey too.
The one thing which she does wonder, however, is how many unwritten
pages there are. She mentions this idly to a Moment Yearning. Her
spirit friend, steeped in a timeless wisdom, points out to her that if
this book has any knowledge of the future, even if only an idea of how
many pages are yet to be written, then it must have a connection to
the web of things outside of the middl world. That is, it must be
connected to Arachne Solara´s doings and thereby to the Green Age when
all that comes to pass happened already.
On the other hand (here, A Moment Yearning has his mistress somewhat
baffled: centaurs, especially those from the West, are great ones for
the study of Logic, but Icthya proceeds by a totally different form of
reasoning and sometimes finds it hard to keep up with him), if the
book doesn't have the full complement of pages yet then new pages must
be coming from somewhere as the story is written. If there is such a
device then it may well be one of the soulless ones' infernal
sorcerous machinations. On the other hand, it would be quite possible
that the book is still alive and capable of some vegeative
regeneration. Icthya can think immediately of a dozen plants which
would have this property if properly bound into some device. The
elfbow she carries with her would be something similar of course.
Icthya's curiosity is slightly stimulated, but after a few days A
Moment Yearning starts to pester her to see the artefact. Eventually,
she cedes and asks the bizarre, ancient human, if she might examine
the artefact. She is not stupid, of course, and does so in front of
everyone so as to make it difficult for him to refuse.
OOC: Some of this may of course be true. If so, I'd be looking to play
off Moment Yearning's Wisdom of the Green Age. Also, it's a way for my
character to participate in all this unholy Western mumbo jumbo.
