- “You seem well informed bearded one! Azhur stated, but personal tastes aren’t here the question. From a pure western point of view, pagan civilizations warring and destroying themselves should rather be a good news… however I give you the benefit of your speech… as... own experience also learned me that followers of the Red Moon, if at first useful, could turn on the long run into ambitious deceivers…”
[OOC] subtly trying to convince the beastmen to join the orlanthi ("Lunar deceptive ways are reputed even in the West")
The western nobleman paused, looking sad and sorry, but he observed the barbarian hero with determination when he continued:
- “Our problem is somewhere else and perhaps in your great wisdom you could indicate us a better solution than the one imagined so far. We are dedicated to save Fronela from the furious cancer of the Kingdom of War, a far more evident threat than the Lunar Empire for the peoples of our lands, malkioni, hunshen or orlanthi alike. We are questing for the lost weapons of Talor the Laughing Warrior and if we follow your advice and do not travel through the moon empire, how will we reach the Blue Moon Plateau, the Far-East and then our countries? How will we succeed to achieve our quest? And even more… if we give some of our precious time to fight on the side of your Iron Ring, the defeated league of broken champions of a dying pagan god, how will this time loss helps our cause in return? Will the divine cart driver of you windy but blown god miraculously bring us to our destinations? Will your already vainquished champions fight for us in return? Against
the far away but always more near Kingdom of War? You have to be generous, Purple Minaryth, because our time is priceless as it is paid with a blood poured by innocents! Simple or noble, men, women, and children alike!”
[OOC] Convincing Minaryth that there are other important causes worth dying for:
- Convince other 15
- Witnessed and Endured the Atrocities of the Kingdom of War 13/+1
- Touched by Death 13/+1
- Questing 17/+2
- Loyal 17/+2
In try to look impressive, Azhur raised on his feet passionately:
- “I’m Azhur, third son of lord Daymare of the kingdom of Loskalm, bearer of the Old Banner of the Red Valor that preceded Arkat and Talor before their battles in Ralios but I’m also the New Elected King of the reformed Kingdom of Seshnela, so I’m entitled to build alliances and define treaties with whatever nations could help us in these dire times… but you’re now asking me my most precious wealth: time! So what’s your proposal? And before speaking, choose your words well, because I will ask the same question to the lunars if your answer doesn’t help us…”
[OOC] Putting status into the balance
- Famous House Daymare 13/+1
- Elected King of Seshnela 14/+1
- Red Banner : Truce and Negociation Defense power 14/+1
- Intrepid 19 /+2
- Combative 17/+2

Pucewattle grimaces a bit at Kalen's politically incorrect reference to
him as a 'Duck'. "A duck", he says puffing up his feathers in a most
dignified manner, "is a bird without intelligence. Despite a passing
semblance, I am as sapient as you are. Perhaps even more so". However
his mood does soften, for it is not the first time the durulz have been
referred to as such, and when one is in the merchant's business it is
wise to develop a thick coating of down. "The snail, as you suggest, is
most excellent eating. Although I had not considered the possibility of
selling a snail dish to the Mostal. It would have to be highly processed
of course, to suit your, ahh, *cough* highly acquired tastes. Although I
can see how the packaging could appeal to your people. Once all this
blasted business concerning old Windy is over, perhaps we could come to
an agreement". This is a twinkle in the old duck's eye, the look of a
hunter. Could he be the first duck to establish profitable trade with
the Dwarves?
OOC: I really need to find another player for Pucewattle, don't I? :)
Sadly for Kalen, Pucewattle has never heard of Lei Tabor. But the
Lhankor Mhy sage, Minaryth certainly has, as it comes with his
profession. "Lei Tabor is a Orlanthi city in the far eastern Wastelands,
just before - or even within - the Eastern lands. I do not know exactly
where, but the people are brave and wise, a mixed breed. The bravery
they have from the Storm Bull nomads, who for years fought and warned
all against the chaos that always creeps and grows. The wisdom they have
from the East, savvy in trade, conservative in their mores and
structured in their ways. And you say a Western wizard ended up there?
Who had a rubble runner to suckle on his teat? Such strangeness would
not be loved in those city, I am sure."
With Eurynome handing the bracelet, Miranyth nods. "He is very wise,
your master Nauticles. Not much else would have assured me more of whom
you come from and what message I am to give you. You know these Runes of
course, every child has them drummed into their skull, no matter what
the resistance. Chaos and Hunger, the symbols of Krasht, the devouring
goddess. Fire and Storm, well, those two don't usually go together do
they? The metal is gold, and there's the Sun and Storm runes. The sun
and the storm have always been in some conflict. Yelm, the Sun God rules
from on high, and the independent storm rebels from below; a more
friendly competition. So what would these runes be doing alongside
Chaos, and what do they mean?"
Before Eurynome can ever propose an answer, the ever-alert (and always
presumptuous) Godlearner Rikku gave his. "Sunstorm", he announced with
certainty. The Fire rune and the Storm rune means Sunstorm. But..", he
voice trailed off, "I do not know what the Chaos and Hunger Runes
represent here."
Mirynath glared ever-so slightly at the Godlearner. "This listen
carefully, man of the Old Empire. The Lunars, like your people, like to
'mix things up' the Runes, the very foundations of our universe, for
their own advantage. Oh yes, they like just a little bit of Chaos as
well. Well, what happens when you combine the fires of the sun with the
movement of the winds? Yes, you create a firestorm - and in this case a
very, very big one. And we know that fire likes to eat". He turned to
the Elf, who had suddenly found herself paying some attention to this
strangely wise human. "And what do you suppose fire likes to eat most of
all?"
Icthya bowed her head. "Wood", she muttered. "The children of Flamal,
father of seeds, and Aldrya The Grower."
There was a moment's silence, and most ironically all could be heard was
the crackle of wood on the fire at the Wild Temple, as if the plant
spirit was sighing at its consumption. The calls of Karala's naked
dancing with the Beast people seemed to exist in the background as most
of the Fellowship concentrated on the discussion at hand. Interestingly,
one of the characters who had joined Karala's by the fire was the
Dragonewt, having remarked that he had never felt so cold and expressing
complete indifference to Karala's bare body, had also taken the
opportunity to warm his tail.
"I have a sorrowful story to tell you, Elf. Far to the north and east of
where we are, the Lunar Empire came into conflict with some proud and
violent horse nomads called the Char-Un in the lands west of the White
Sea. They worshipped the Sun, like the followers of Yelm, but in a more,
ah, 'stormy' manner. But the Moon Goddesses proved more potent, and so
they changed their faith to accord to their vassal status. As a reward
the Lunars joined with many of their priests to create a new land where
the Char-Un could live. The ritual took many years to complete. But when
they did complete it, great balls of fire fell from the sky upon one of
the greatest forest of Glorantha". Again Mirynath paused.
"Thousands of your people died. Those that did not were put to the
lance, as the Char-Un sought plains and steppes rather than wooded
glades. Now the lands stretch for many leagues without any forest to
break the landscape."
"I tell you there is no friendship to found among the Lunar Empire. They
will do whatever is expedient in their quest to rule all. Yes, there are
individuals who are of good heart, but they are not those in power. The
Empire will grow. It will support some where it is useful and then
destroy them if they resist. It is tainted by Chaos and must inevitably
result in the entire world being destroyed as a result."
"King Anzhur, I know you want to travel north and into the Lunar
Heartland. I advise against this approach, for the journey will be long,
hard and I fear will corrupt you and your fellows. Even if the Beastmen
here have proven unable to forsee their future (although we have not
always treated them well in the past, I admit), the liberation of our
entrapped God will bring a new breath to the fabled lands of Dragon Pass
and open the way along the waters to the Eastern lands. Go not into a
land tainted by Chaos, I implore thee. Come to Auroch Hills and meet the
Iron Ring; join us in our struggle for liberation. Beware the temptation
of Chaos."
At that moment, with a sense of most excellent timing, a semi-clad
Karala returns. "Good news!", she exclaims, "the Telmori Werewolves have
decided to join the rebellion!".
