Scene Six: Nameless Secrets

The grey aura surrounding El Grim's body pulsated and
the eyes flashed with Azhur's answer. A dry voice
croaked from the throat.

"You are brave, standard-bearer; and fortunate for
yourselves and all men, you speak with truth and
wisdom. It is true, I was the first to know the power
of Death before the Great Compromise. You cannot
conceive the madness that reigned. Gods and spirit
fought each other, were arisen again, went back and
forth in time to re-engage in battles. Time was indeed
a great gift. It brought permanence and stability to
the world. It also put the great spirits in their
place. It also allowed for regeneration. But, like so
many truths in Glorantha, this is but a partial truth.
The Malkioni and the Dwarves also speak correctly,
that it may be possible to enjoy the pleasure of Time
without being brought Death. But of course", the
Nameless Man murmured, "that would require preventing
the first death..."

He paused, and his voice rose again.

"It is *time* you knew what confronts Glorantha, and
what you can do to save mankind."

"Arising in the Kingdom of War is a great ritual to
bring evil and chaos back to the world, to break the
compromise of Time. Unless the Three Weapons of Talor
are together, the greatsword, the axe and the flail,
this will mean the end of all you hold dear to your
heart".

"Know this! It is not the weapons themselves, but the
spirits that wield them that will be the path to your
success! Knowledge of the axe will be found at Bad
Deal. Knowledge of the flail will be found with a man
named Yao Fune, in a distant land called Karorela.
Knowledge of the greatsword will be found with the one
known as Mrs. Flint, on the Blue Moon Plateau."

The voice rose to a cresendo, shouting, as the wind
rose and swamp-water and mist whirled around you all.

"Be brave! And do not fear Death in playing your part
in saving mankind!"

Then the aura vanished, the corpus of El Grim fell
into the water, face-down, and silence fell upon the
pond. It was over; the Nameless Man had spoken and had
departed with the spirit of El Grim.

With nary a word spoken to each other the fellowship
turned and exited the swamp to return with their news
to Sogolotha Mambrola.
